Nopeuta uuden englantilaisen messukirjan julkaisua
Uuden englantilaisen messukirjan julkaisua on odotettu jo iät ja ajat. Jos toivot, että julkaisu nopeutuu, ja englanninkielisetkin messut uskollisemmin seuraavat Roomalaisen messukirjan muotoiluja, niin liity julkaisun tukijoiden joukkoon. Ainakin tuntuu siltä, että on itsekin saanut jotakin tehdyksi:

hyvä aihe.Enkunkieliset messut noin ylipäänsä kyllä tuntuu olevan liturgisesti melko katastrofaalisia, liekö huono käännös osasyyllinen vai mikä?
The new translations are nothing to get excited about. The significant changes are mainly literal translations of the Latin - rather like the present Finnish Mass translation.
However, to the English speaker, the new translations sound very akward, use language seldom used by English speakers and are being greeted with derision.
They are going to cause problems; many congregations will ignore them.
Well, I don't believe "many congragation will ignore them" because they would end up in being in explisit schism. As one priest once said: We are Catholics; therefore we follow the Pope. If we do not want to follow the Pope, then we should not call us Catholics.
I think that is a very simple but trueful way to say it.
I'm not sure why the new translation would hard to follow or be arkward. It's not as if it been written in early modern English, or anything like that. But then the problem of agreeing on one English translation is the fruit of vernacularism, and in my mind that fruit is rotten. The graces we receive in the Mass are not dependent upon us understanding every word and syllable. But then the liturgy has suffered from a kind of rationalistic reductionism for at least the last century. When the liturgy is once again seen primarily as an encounter with mystery, instead of through neo-scholastic eyes, there might be some hope that things will eventually change for the better. Pope Benedict XVI is certainly trying to do this, so maybe the ray of hope is already there. Let's hope and pray so. The current debacle concerning the translation is also another good reason why bishops conferences should just be abolished.
